Norwood Summer Camp

I'm considering sending my 6 year old daugter to Norwood Summer Camp for a few weeks this summer. Does anyone have an experience with Norwood -- good or bad -- to share?

My neighbor's kids went there for the past couple of summers and really enjoyed it. One of the downsides (for some kids) is that there is no pool. I'd love to also learn more from parents who have sent their kids there as I am considering sending my soon-to-be 6 year old there this summer too.

My DS has attended Norwood Summer Camp for the last two years (as a rising 1st grader, and rising 2nd grader), and he has enjoyed it. The counselors do a great job -- usually a staff member (teacher from the school) and a teenager serve as counselor and asst. counselor for each group. On the plus side, the kids aren't outside in 100+ degree weather all day as in some of the camps that we've considered; however, I do wish they had a pool and some more traditionally campy outside activities. You have to find the right camp for your child. My DS is a rather careful child and isn't particularly outdoorsy or adventurous, so this camp fits him well. I don't worry about his safety here at all.

The front office administration for this camp wasn't as smooth last year as it was the year before, but once you get past registration hiccups and the first couple of days each session, the counselors do a great job running the camp.
