The cost of butter

Anonymous
It's now 3.50/pound! Does anyone know where it is on sale this week, or where it generally costs less (that price was at Safeway)? Alternately, decent substitutes for baking?

TJ's typically has the best prices on butter.

Buy a couple pounds every time it goes on sale -- that's what I do. Works well because it seems to go on sale for $2/lb just about once a month.

As for baking substitutes...is that a real question? You know about the existence of Crisco, right?

I buy butter at Costco and freeze it.

$3.50/ph really isn't that bad. It goes on sale often enough.

My butler is paid a weekly salary...I wonder how much I should be paying him, if the going rate is $3.50/lb. I should very well ask him to go on a diet!
