Infertility Support and Discussion
|
Hi - I am unable to carry a child to term, but am otherwise pretty fertile (getting pregnant hasn't been a problem - staying pregnant has). We're considering pursuing a gestational carrier, but I am in the very early stages of collecting information. If anyone in the DC area has been through this, I'd love to hear about your experience.
Thanks very much. |
| There was a good article in the Post a week or two about about a family and their surrogate, I think it mentioned an agency and discussed the relevant laws in VA vs. MD. |
| Thanks, yes, saw that. If only that carrier was still available! It was a great story, but didn't include many specifics in terms of local agencies or resources. |

I am a surrogate and I would recommend talking to Hilary Neiman. She is my attorney and wrote our contract. She has always been so knowledgeable and helpful. I can't say enough great things about her. She has reasonable prices and won't try to sell you services that you don't want.
www.hilaryneiman.com Good luck! |
| Thanks very much - I've just sent her an e-mail. In the meantime, I'd love to hear more about surrogacy from your perspective if you're willing! If you'd prefer to discuss offline I'd be happy to. Thanks again for the suggestion. |

| We are having twins due in March with a surrogate -- ('gestational' surrogacy, ie, my eggs, my husbands 'genetic material' via the 1st part of IVF, and our surrogate is the "gestational carrier"). It's been a very very very challenging process in many ways, but I also could get pregnant but couldn't carry to term and am obviously thrilled we had this option to pursue. We worked through the Center for Surrogate Parenting (CSP) which has an office in Annapolis (& main office in California) and Shady Grove for the IVF & 'transfer'. Happy to provide more info asclaura@gmail.com. |
