Anyone looked into this? I want to get a trundle bed from a family member in NJ. Even dissembled, the pieces wont fit in a car or SUV, and are too big for UPS or the like. It seems silly to pay a one-way drop off and mileage (or round trip mileage) for a u-haul for one piece of furniture (not to mention not my idea of a good time to take a bus to NJ to drive a u-haul back!). Has anyone investigated the best way to do this? Do any moving companies let you do this if you're flexible about the timing, maybe if they have room on the truck or whatever?
I used uShip to get a couple of pieces of furniture from my father in Florida. You list the items and time frame and people places bids to ship it for you. The people I talked to were professional and courteous. They have a feedback rating system, similar to eBay. It was much cheaper than freight companies.
After re-reading, I realize "ship it for you" was a misleading phrase. They will pick it up and deliver it to you. I think small time movers make a run of several pick ups/drops offs. The guy who delivered my furniture had an F150 type truck with a sealed, pull behind trailer.

We used a company called MiniMoves to do this a few times, to move pieces from my grandparents' house to various children and grandchildren. It did the job relatively affordably, but it did take awhile. They put it in with bigger shipments when there is room on the truck, and delivery happened when it happened, without much notice. It was the cheapest option we found but it wasn't cheap. I think I spent $600 to move a dining room table. Not sure what it would cost for a trundle bed, but you would have to figure out if it is worth it.

I had this question last week, I called a big moving company (J&K) and they said they recommend Ship Smart. I called Ship Smart and they quoted me a price that was cheaper than renting a UHaul and moving the furniture myself.
Call Greyhound. They do moves like this. Also Forward Air.
Thanks everyone!
