Expectant and Postpartum Moms

New in town and have been reading the various blogs about amnio reccomendations but wanted something more up-to-date.
I am interested in going to a special genetics center to get it done and would like to know who is known/used the most in town for being the most experienced. Thank you! |

My amnio is not for a couple of weeks, but I'm going to Dr. Pinckert at Greater Washington Maternal and Fetal Health. They have offices in Silver Spring and Shady Grove. Had my first trimester screen with them and they were great. Dr. Pinckert came highly recommended by friends and my OB. I've also seen positive posts on this forum.

Dr. Pinckert, Dr. Stern and Dr. Gallagher are all well reccomended.
Dr. Gallagher at Greater Washington Maternal and Fetal Health.
George bronsky at inova fairfax. Excellent doctor, saved my and my babys life. Not the most fuzzy bedside manner, but if you have a high risk pregnancy, this is the practice that you want.
Maryland Perinatal Assoiciates - Dr Wayne Kramer very good and experienced.
Dr. Collea at Georgetown. It was fine and really i felt like it was almost a non-event.
Dr Larsen at GW - he heads the OB practice
Dr. Gallagher from Greater Washington Maternal Fetal Medicine. I really am glad I went to him - he made me feel very comfortable and was patient in answering all my questions. Nice doctor and I liked the office too.
Dr. Stern at GIVF in Va.
Dr. Pardo at FoxHall. My experience with her and the procedure was good.
I also used Dr. Pinckerrt for my first. He was fantastic. I realized the anticipation was SO MUCH worse than the actual procedure and knowing the results was a huge weight off. I could really enjoy my pregnancy after the amnio.
I made an appointment with Dr. Pinckert to get my amnio but nurse says they cannot guarantee that he will be the one doing it... depending on his availability. Has anyone experience this?
i used dr gallagher from greater washington maternal fetal medicine and he was wonderful

Well, if it's between Pinckert and Gallagher, I'd say either one is okay.
Honestly, amnios are very safe these days. I think the old numbers of miscarriages (1 in 400?) are from the 1970s, before they used ultrasound to guide the needle. Now, the number is more like 1 in 1500. |
