Reporter looking to do story on overmedication for ADHD

For some wacky reason, I went to the Health forum to see what was going on over there. I should have known better. I saw this post

Hi! My name is Kristine and I am a television reporter for RTTV, an international news outlet based in Washington DC.
I am looking for moms or dads willing to do a quick on-camera interview (Me ad my crew can come to you!) regarding the topic of
children getting diagnosed for ADD and ADHD, en masse.
Many of these children undoubtedly need the medication to help, but some are
simply hyper and rambunctious (ie. just being kids)
If interested, please email me at kfrazao@rttvamerica.com

This clearly isn't about providing a balanced point of view. I'm tempted to respond that I think ADHD is overdiagnosed and overmedicated, get them come to my house and then discuss how we came to the painful and difficult decision to medicate our kids, in particular, how the stigma of ADHD and medication makes this much more difficult than it should be. This is so frustrating.

Kristine of RTTV is probably all of 22 years old and has zip experience with children, special needs or not. Moreover, RTTV ran a little story about a month ago where this American "expert" on foreign affairs discussed some big conspiracy theory about the US government ... pardon me for not remembering the details, but is was such bull that I promptly changed the channel and have not revisited "Russia Today" station again.

There are some good retorts to her story pitch. Mine included.

It's infuriating, but I can only hope that this outdated point of view is fading as the general public becomes more aware of the plentiful and robust research on brain development. Grrrr.

Older than 22 I'd say, but definitely no experience with kids.

Didn't Judith Warner set out to write a book about this but then ended up flipping around and thinking that not enough are medicated?

Yes, I can't remember the name of her book, but she spent years working on it. I think the reporter would be using her time wisely to get some background through the Warner book and then develop her story as opposed to "researching" via message board. Her viewership knows how to Google, too. What happened to actual reporting and synthezising infomation?

Her book is called We've Got Issues and it was fabulous.
