Westland "exams"???

We just got the weekly robo call from Westland and it said "exams are the week of the 14th. My sixth grader swears they've never mentioned exams. Is this something everyone takes? Certain grades? Certain classes?

I have a seventh grader at Westland and my experience has been that they DO have exams. If your child is taking a foriegn language you can count on it. Same with accelerated math. Other classes usually have end of quarter/semester assesments, but they are less like finals and more like regular tests. Since you have a 6th grader, it might be a good idea to get in touch with their teachers for guidance about their expectations. I have found the faculty to be very accessible and helpful. Good luck!

I think the classes that are HS level (eg. Algebra 1) require exams as they follow the same curriculum as the HS (and the grades go on the transcripts).
