Gyn recommendation in MD

Anonymous
Aside from the obvious -- knowledgeable, caring, accepted by most major insurance plans -- there is one challenge in particular I should mention.

I find that most OBGYNs are used to treating people who are in stable monogamous relationships and either pregnant, trying to conceive or done having kids.

Now it's not like I am having unprotected sex with strangers every weekend, but between one thing and the other I had multiple partners last year and the year before and probably will this year as well. I need a doctor who won't judge and who will encourage me to get tested for STDs often and thoroughly instead of me having to practically twist their arm every time.

Also I'm in my 30s and have been having some trouble with irregular bleeding lately and the doctors' reaction seems to shift between "Don't worry it will go away on its own" and "Are you sure you still need your uterus?" There's got to be middle ground, isn't there?

My DD is the light of my life and if I am not destined to have more so be it. But I would really hate to find out, should I meet the right guy a year or two down the road, that because of something that went untreated for too long I can't have kids any more. So the doctor should not be overzealous with expensive tests but on board with my desire to be proactive about fertility.

Ladies,

I am sorry if the tone of my original post was off-putting in any way. Browsing through the rest of this forum, I saw that the only other OBGYN recommendation request never got any responses either. I hope this does not mean that no-one has a doctor they are happy with. Anyway, I will be really grateful for any recommendations or advice. Thanks!

David Powers in Bethesda. I am single, and never get any judgmentt vibes from him.

Yuri prykupenko in Rockville, MD. I have been his patient for years. No judgement. Just excellent care. His staff is friendly also. They just launched electronic medical records etc so you can call or go to the website doctoryuri.com and book online. Best gyn I have ever had.

I second the recommendation for Dr. Prikoupenko. He used to work at Georgetown and started his own practice. He is great and his secretary is super friendly as well. I have only fabulous things to say about him.

The Powers practice was in some trouble a few years ago, and care dropped (in my view). Maybe it is fine now. I like Elizabeth Krinn in Bethesda.

Lori Kaler in Bethesda.

I third Dr. Yuri. I wish I could spell the last name prikoupenko or prykupenko. Great doc.

I have heard great things about her. Unfortunately she isn't taking new patients!
