Where to find fresh ackee?

Having visited Jamaica several times, I a big fan of ackee and saltfish. I have tried to make it myself with the canned ackees available at Jamaican markets in Silver Spring, but it doesn't taste right. Anyone know where I can get fresh ackee? I'd also be willing to order it- I have heard that farms in Florida grow it now but can't seem to find any on the web that ship it.

Have you gone to green grocer markets on 5th Street NE? There are a couple of African food markets there that carry a WIDE range of fresh produce. You should take a photo as foodstuffs are called by different names region by region. You should also post on DC Chowhound if you have not done so already. BTW, I love ackee + saltfish!
