At what age does a toddler start to "dance". Our daughter seems to be dancing, shaking/swaying her shoulders as she walks. Sometimes to music, sometimes not. I am worried that it may be something more than just strutting around because her moves are very spastic (similar to the Elaine dance on Seinfeld). She always wiggles her shoulder when she walks so not sure if it may be something I need to investigate. She is one year old. |
My daughter is 13 months and loves to dance. She'll do it anytime she hears music or if you say dance or dancing. |
my daughter is just over 1 yr and also will dance when music comes on or if she gets really excited about something. sometimes is does look a little spastic, but it seems to happen as a result of certain songs or if she's excited. if you are really worried, you can always ask your pediatrician to take a look at her next check up. it sounds normal, though. |
My 17 month old "dances" think a toddler version of Flashdance...sort of fast stomping in place or jogging in place. And your daughter is just 1 yr old so she's still figuring out how to control and move her body. I wouldn't be surprised to see some strange stuff. But ask your pediatrician if you're really concerned. |
Apparently I acted JUST like your daughter when I was a toddler. My moves looked jerky and strange my parents have said, and it was a family joke.
I started ballet at age three, jazz at twelve, modern in college, and hip hop as an adult. I happily suck at the later, and wish I still had the inhibition of a one year old. So yes, check with your ped, but please know that for some kids this is totally normal. They are just learning how to get their groove on. |
Totally normal. My DS and the little girl he nanny shares with frequently dance when they get back from music class. It's super cute!
