I have been on an antibiotic for mastitis for 7 days, and the pain has come back! Normal?

Things got better for about three days and then, starting last night, the pain is back in the breast. Do I need another round of antibiotics? I hate for the holiday weekend to begin and me be stuck with this even longer...

To make matters worse, I have a 6 MONTH OLD and he is starting food and BFing less...it is messing with my supply, big time and it sucks.

Grrrrr....

Any thoughts?

Call your doctor....you may need a different antibiotic.

Could it be possible that you got thrush in the breast from the antibiotic? Is the pain different? Burning or stabbing? That is another possibility....

Believe it or not, I got mastitis on the other side while taking an antibiotic. Within 4 hours of it starting my temp was up to 103.5 and I was shaking and freaking out. Got a different antibiotic and felt better within 12 hours. Call right away and get another script. And try to get your baby to nurse as much as possible--before solids!--the next couple days. and pump if you have to. Sorry, mastitis is the worst.
