My husband and I are on a mission to enjoy the last three months without the need of a sitter before the baby arrives. We both work in Chinatown, and haven't been out to eat in awhile. Any recommendations for good places we should check out? Hipper the better perhaps. ![]() |
Levante's or Zola.

Matchbox is fun. |
Proof.
Zaytinya. Zengo. Brasserie Beck. Rasika. All are hip and tasty and with the exception of Zaytinya, maybe, none are particularly child-friendly so you probably won't be bringing the baby there after he/she's born. |
Not hip like "cool" hip but more hip like "insider" hip. The Burma restaurant, second floor at 740 6th St. Food is good, a little different twist on Southeast Asian food. Not usually crowded when I arrive at "old fogie" time of 6:30 or so. You could probably take baby there later so maybe save it for a family visit. |
Love Burma too! Call it Old School Chinatown Dining.
And if you ever need a grilled cheese sandwich, head to Becky's |
OP here- Thanks so much folks. We have probably eaten everything on the Matchbox menu twice, so the new suggestions are great. ![]() (btw, the bartenders at Ella's made me fun mocktails for free when we were last there for happy hour. I happily recommend this place to pregnant ladies.) |

PS7 Proof Jaleo The Source (lounge is better than restaurant) And I must disagree re babies in these places. They get crowded, so a few baby babbles won't do anything to ruin the mood! It does depend on the type of baby you have, but most could go to these places on the early side! |
Zengo! or Zango? |
