It has a GT center and serves the wealthiest part of Vienna.

You are more at fear from "hypercompetitive parents" and "kid activity overload" than from getting a bad education (or being at risk of being ignored since you're not at risk enough.)

So I would have zero worries.

Last I checked no SACC center although I might have misread that or it's changed since then.

I've heard that it's good. It's one of the schools on which I did a little preliminary research because we were considering a daycare center right across the street. I believe it feeds into good secondary schools as well. (The SACC issue is a valid one, though - that may or may not be an issue for you, but it is for a lot of working parents.)

There is no SACC and they also still have half day K.

It is an Advanced Academic Center. Some people were very unhappy when the middle school Advanced Academic Center for Louise Archer base school students changed to Jackson.

My kids do not attend there, but we live pretty close by. I have heard some of the class sizes are quite large.

Feeds to Thoreau (I think) and Madison. Both are among the top 5 MS or HS in terms of test scores in the county.

The base school feeds to Thoreau. Center eligible kids feed to the center at Jackson (there is no center at Thoreau) although some parents are opting to pull their kids out of the center for Thoreau.

Not all Center-eligible kids feed to Jackson (some feed to Kilmer), although I believe the vast majority do.

Not all of the kids for whom Archer is their center are slated for Jackson. For example, kids who have Stenwood as their base school, their center is Kilmer. But the kids for whom Archer is their base school, their slated center school is Jackson.

There are AAP kids assigned to Archer who go on to attend Kilmer MS, not Jackson MS.

And Archer doesn't serve the "wealthiest parts" of Vienna, unless the other poster was just referring to the town of Vienna, which isn't as wealthy as some of the surrounding areas in Fairfax County with Vienna mailing addresses.

But, anyway, people do seem happy with Archer, whether as a base school or for the AAP program.

We live within the L A Boundaries, and my DD attends the AAP Center. I am really impressed with the school. The school has a great principal and we have been happy with most of the teachers. The true heart and soul of the school, though, is an active PTA which supplements the experience with parent volunteers and additional activities.

I have not noticed hyper competitiveness....the school tries to emphasize community and cooperation.

Oh, as the AAP center, the school serves most of (the town of) Vienna...not all, but most.

actually, the principal is not at all accessible. she does not have any relationship with the parents, unfortunately. past principals were more accessible and understanding of the struggles of working parents. this principal is very stand-off and not at all understanding with issues we have as working parents. don't like the current principal, but absolutely loves the teachers! they are quite good.

I would argue that the 22182 zip is the wealthiest part of Vienna, and some of these 'hoods feed to Langley HS.

and 22182 is not in Town of Vienna, it is just the postal zip code outside of town boundaries. Withing town boundaries this characterization is not true.
