First Steps Tysons Reviews?

Any folks here who have any feedback about First Steps Day Care in Tysons Corner? I am thinking about sending my toddler to the day care and am interested in knowing more....

I did a tour last year and did not like it. bad vibe and noticed that i had 'violations' from the county posted on their wall as per requirement.

I toured it and did not like it. The directors (husband and wife) were very friendly. However, when we went to see the classrooms, one of the providers was yelling at a child, the infant room had a depressing feel, a long telephone cord within young childred reach in one of the rooms, etc.

I am a physician in Northern Virginia. I have two children at First Steps, one who has been there 4+ years starting at 3 months and a second child who has been there since 3 months for the last 18 months. I can not be more pleased with First Steps, the Teachers and the Staff. They are excellent. They engage the kids, are invested in their care/education and well being. We fell into First Steps by accident as it was the first daycare with availibility, but are so glad we did. I visited other daycares where the chidlren were just supervised but kinda just left on their own: adults only intervened when necessary. First Steps is pro-active when it comes to interaction with the children. The director (and her husband) knows all the kids, families, siblings....I really dont' know how she manages to keep everyone straight. I would recommend this place highly to anyone.

We had a very negative experience with this day care center. I would highly recommend Tysons Corner Children's Center as an alternative. It was amazing.

A friend of mine liked it a lot. I've heard good and bad reviews on both the centers mentioned. I guess it comes down to personal choice.

Agreed. I toured both and sent my DS to Tccc. Amazing place. First steps felt cold and creepy. Tccc felt like a lively daycare/ preschool.

I don't like to give advice to people but all I can say do your research very well about the centers before you send your precious ones to these day-time foster care.

NOTE: If you just want to try this school to see if it fits, think twice because they will charge you 60 days of tuition even if you just come in for one day.
Overall unprofessional teachers and poor communications.
We asked for some accommodations based on what they listed to provide in the school’s policy when we transferred over and teachers/staffs all agreed but NEVER followed through. Staff are not responsive as we can never reach anyone with the contact information listed on their website. We only attended 7 days, they required us to pay for the whole summer tuition “per policy”.

That is awful. I own a center and would never do that to a family.

Better options are Tysons Corner Children's Center or Lewinsville Montessori. Both are 12-month full-day programs.

We had a very bad experience with first steps academy at Tyson’s corner. We experienced very arrogant and dishonest management as well as unprofessional teachers. We requested to change class after realizing the unprofessional behaviors of the classroom teacher including lying to parents and carelessly leaving milk out in room temp for hours while busy scrolling on their phones. The request was rejected and we had to withdraw after attending only 7 days. We were made to pay tuition for the whole summer (June through end of August). Additional issues include unreachable management as they never pick up their phone and safety concerns as they’d leave their front door unlocked sometimes while nobody stays at front desks.
