Is with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, caramel etc. I am talking about apples, strawberries, rasberries, etc. Most fruits except maybe melons.
Is this awful? Isn't it better that I am eating fruit? |
| OP, I can't touch fruit unless it is PERFECT which means I hardly ever eat fruit. I won't eat strawberries out of season and apples that aren't tooth-breakingly crunchy get tossed...to me, most fruit seems too mushy and tasteless. This is a problem nutritionally for me. Bananas work well as do tart, small blueberries. I am a freak about this... |

I can't remember the last time I had fruit of any kind. If you have to layer it with all the sugar and fat, you might as well not eat it.
I do love vegetables, though. |
I'm assuming you eat vegetables. Assuming so, I don't think it matters if you don't eat much fruit. I'm no nutritionist, but I read once that what matters more is that you eat a variety of colors, b/c then you get a variety of vitamins/minerals. Meaning, it's probably fine to eat all veggies but try for a mix of broccoli, colored peppers, beans, lettuces, spinach, carrots, etc. Personally, I'd only indulge in fruit covered in chocolate, whipped cream, etc. as an occasional treat rather than justifying it as a daily fruit serving

I love almost all vegetables but also do not eat fruit at all, with the exception of perfectly yellow bananas, avocados and tomatoes (sometimes). I wont eat them with sugar and chocolate either. I will drink no-pulp OJ, so I try and get some vitamen C from there.
My SIL is a nutritionist and while she doesnt approve of my fruit issues, she says as long as I get my vitamins elsewhere, its fine. |
| Well, it depends. How much sugar and fat does your diet have otherwise, and how much are you using when you do it fruit? Is it a bit of chocolate to sweeten it up, or are the berries drowning in it. And are you getting your vitamins elsewhere, such as from vegs? If you don't do much sugar and fat otherwise, then a little on the fruit to make it palatable is fine. |
| OP here. Thanks for the responses. I eat very little veggies as well unfortunatley. I try, but I have better luck with fruits. Part of the prob with the veggies is my lack of making them taste good (I'm not a good cook) and lack of time to cook. |
| Maybe you should try smoothies with vanilla yogurt. |
| Sprinkle some splenda on the strawberries. Yummy. |

I'm sort of picky about fruit. I love veggies, but have never been sold on fruit. I like baked fruits a lot - so baked apples, poached pears, cherry pies - yum. (though those are all desserts!) I like orange juice, but only for washing down carb-y foods like bagels, a PB&J sandwich or even pizza. otherwise it's too acidic for me.
Could you maybe switch out the whipped cream for yogurt? I like putting raspberries and blackberries in my morning yogurt. |
| What about the Naked fruit/veggie juices? I keep one or two of the red and green machines in the fridge incase I have a day or two with lower veggie servings. They taste really good and are a great nutritional boost. |
