Yeah, but the OP did it for them instead.

Great post on the recruiting statistics this year, compared to past years, on the WLax Recruiting Numbers page on Facebook. The Admin there works hard to put out the stats, so I will respect their direction and not repost the full chart here.

A couple of interesting observations from the first 4 months of the recruiting season. Despite dire predictions, the total number of D1 commits for the September through December time period is on par with prior years:

24s: 982 position player; 81 goalies
25s: 1,080 position players; 89 goalies
26s: 986 position players; 88 goalies

Notably, as many has observed on this page, a larger percentage of recruits committed in September than in prior years, 594 for the 26s, up from 498 for the 25s, and 327 for the 24s.

Last, and maybe most relevant for those still in the process, a meaningful number of the eventual total commits happened in the year following the initial 4 months (position players only): for '24, 195 in January through August (115 in Jan and Feb combined), and then 128 after 9/1; and, for '25, 175 in January through August (most in January and February, but then a consistent 15-20 a month) and 57 after 9/1 (over a year into the recruiting period). So, depending on position, the past years suggest that 15-30% of total recruiting is left in this cycle, even though September and October were front loaded this year.

interesting that you are so judgmental without understanding the Division 2 recruiting calendar.

Butler is D1.

Big East D1 at that but a garbage conference

This player committed a while ago. She and her family are wonderful people. What type of adult loser would trash a young woman's college commitment on an anonymous message board. Shame on you. Good luck with your child.

I think the person corrected the message to say “not” a garbage conference immediately..and then apologized for the typo again later. Wasn’t me, but my guess it was a voice to text message. Big East conference is no joke! Congrats to the player again!

Thanks. Plenty of folks it seems without accurate information have been passing that along about roster caps. Not likely to have much effect.

However, possible we could be hearing in the next couple weeks whether the NCAA is serious about their supposed consideration of granting 5 years of playing eligibility to every athlete. THAT would have a major effect on available spots. Not everyone will use, of course. But we're talking a double digit 10%+ decline at a minimum.

And no I am and I don’t believe anyone else is saying that there was anything inappropriate but if you can’t admit that is can at least have that appearance and it probably should be avoided I can’t help you.

This has to be a troll. Any non troll would know that putting something online has nothing to do with when it was actually done. What a weird thing to even bring up.

On the off chance that it isn't -- does anyone really think that the offer was not extended prior to the shutdown? Does everyone not understand that the shutdown is one way -- girls can still email to coaches, accept offers, etc.
It's really just better to mock the OP than try to ask serious questions around it.

During a shutdown period, coaches are not allowed to contact players via email, text message, phone call, or campus visit. If the player wants to email, then so be it, but the coaching staff nor anyone from the school can reach back out and answer until after the shutdown period is over if there was contact it is a violation.
Maybe this link will help you understand the different phases of the recruiting calendar and the meaning of the terms used.

"Recruiting shutdown is a period where no form of recruiting is permitted."

Thanks, I didn't understand what shutdown period meant before now. Now explain how you know there was any contact with the recruit during the shutdown period, and we're all good.

Or how it is that you think you know the rules better than the coaching staff. Any insight into this particular situation will be appreciated.

What did the NCAA say when you contact them?

Is this person being purposely dense? Just because you see something online does not mean it happened at that moment. You have no clue when it happened. For all you know it happened in September. Not likely but still a valid argument that just because the player had not acknowledged it it may have already happened.

Sure, but let me tell you about what a blackout period means. It means recruiting is blacked out. Please excuse that there are no phrases bolded for emphasis of definitions in this post.

What does that have to do with when someone chooses to post a commitment? For all the world knows I committed on September 1. Nothing is noted by the college until signatures happen. Everything else is by choice of the player correct?

You are awesome!

Do you see what else is happening out there in the world? Deep breath. This is trivial in the scheme of things. Stop being hateful. It sounds like you (or your parent) is having a difficult time. The process sucks. Not fun. But your time will come and we will cheer when it happens. Please don’t hate.

Sure, the world is a mess. On the bright side, think of all the additional roster slots opening at universities in Canada and Greenland.
