Can you use Nutella as cake frosting?

I think it would be too thick and pull the top of of the cake. I've never done it, though.

I'd think it'd be more suited to filling myself, but I don't see why not.

Yes you can. But before spreading it, heat it in a pot over another pot with water to make it softer and easier to spread.

What a great idea! (Nutella is not as precious as chocolate and doesn't need a double boiler. I've heated it in a pot and also gotten it nice and runny just leaving a jar on the radiator, too.)

i do it but use a hand mixer to whip it up -- makes it much easier to spread.

Don't put the cake in the fridge before you serve it. When Nutella hardens, it gets EXTREMELY thick -- like a candy bar.
