Does anyone buy a new Christmas tree mid-way through December and get rid of the old one?

I am so depressed. I bought a $100 tree a week and a half ago, and at this point the ornaments keep toppling off it because the branches are dragging so low. I have watered it religiously, and it's not drinking up anything. This tree stinks.

My whole family is coming on Tuesday, and I'm having two holiday parties, and I have this crappy ass tree that looks like I got it in October.

Am I crazy? I am thinking of buying a new one and redecorating it this weekend.

Do it. Once we had to, it was too dry.

I'm having the same problem you are, OP! (($$ tree that stinks))

I would just replace it this year, lesson learned, and buy elsewhere next year.

Make sure that where ever you buy it from, they make a fresh cut before you leave. Then take it home and get it in water right away.

What area do you live in, OP?

OP here. I'm in DC. I paid to have the other tree delivered and put in a stand. Maybe I'll go back to them and ask them to bring another one over tonight and take the old one away (maybe when they hear I'm so dissatisfied they'll give me a discount?). I think the tree place is okay. I just think I picked a bum tree. I definitely will ask them to cut it before they put it in the stand.

Chances are the tree was cut in October. Unless you cut it yourself, those trees are harvested and put in a pile to be shipped several weeks ago without any water.

And keep in mind, we were told by the place we've been getting trees for years, that if the tree is out of water for over an hour it needs a fresh cut. That means if you let the water low even overnight it'll shut down and not start to drink again when you put more water on it (unless you take it out and cut it and put it back in the tree stand).

I'd get a new one. I'm a little crazy like that though.

OP, I wouldn't wait for the vendor to offer you a discount. I would request a replacement tree, free of charge, immediately. You paid a HUNDRED BUCKS for a CUT tree. The extra $60 over what you should have paid should be your satisfaction guarantee.

I would absolutely get a new tree so that I would not obsess about it during the parties and Christmas. I would also start but doing what 11:16 said.

I got a new tree last year in mid-December because the first one toppled over in the middle of the night and we could not get it to stand back up!!!
