Birthday cake - Wegmans or Giant

Wegmans is a bit further for me, but is it worth the extra drive to do a Wegmans b-day cake instead of Giant?

Oh absolutely yes. Publix in Florida makes the best but Wegmans does a lovely job and they have so many more patterns, fillings and Edible Images to boot. Just make sure you schedule an a.m. pickup time before 10 a.m. when the masses arrive.

I have never ordered a Wegman's cake, but the Batman birthday cake I just got from Giant got rave reviews. DS loved the functioning toy it came with. I was almost wanting to fib and say it came from somewhere more upscale than Giant!

I've had bad experiences with both. Giant completely lost my order once. Wegman's didn't have it ready at my pickup time. Hadn't even started it and asked me to wait 45 minutes for them to make it. Not impressed with end result.

LOVE Wegmans Cake! My favorite is to get the shipped cream frosting, with custard filing and fresh raspberries. Your guests will RAVE.

PP- meant whipped cream frosting. I don't think other stores aside from Wegmans even offer whipped cream.

Never had Wegmans, but just had a Giant one (just pulled it out of the freezer pre-made the day of the party), and it was DELICIOUS. About a zillion times better than the Costco cakes that we are usually subjected to. Only complaint was that the brightly colored frosting bits weren't quite as tasty as the cake and regular frosting.
