Stomach "flu"

Anonymous
I know it's not actually a flu, but some type of virus thing- but did anyone come down with the stomach flu during their pregnancy? If so, or if you knew someone, how long did it last? I came down with it a few days ago and while it's better (in that I'm not vomiting every 15 minutes) I still feel sick to my stomach and can't eat anything beyond the bland foods prescribed. It is nice to be able to keep things down though. Also- any tips to help feel better? Thanks!

It took me one full week. Good luck. I wish yout he best. It is no fun.

I had it both pregnancies! Not fun - just stay hydrated once you can keep something down. My OB said not to worry -- just emphasized the hydration part.

I had it. It was so bad I was unable to even keep down liquids so my OB ended up prescribing Zofran. Sounds like you are doing okay -- it will get better, but there are some medications they can prescribe if you are unable to consume liquids or any food.

I had it at 14 weeks, and at first thought it was a bad case of morning sickness. For me, I threw up for a day and then it came out the other end for two days. It took about 5 days before I felt totally better. My OB was most concerned about being hydrated (if I got too dehydrated, they wanted me to come in for fluids). Also, make sure to take your temperature. I was running a low-grade fever, so they had me take a Tylenol. I also took Zofran. Hang in there! I felt like it would NEVER end.

OP- thanks for the responses. The vomiting and other stuff was so bad that my doc admitted me to the hospital for IV fluids and medicine. Doing better, but still under the weather. Amazing how long this thing is hanging around. Although I am sad that anyone had to go through this, it helps to know that others did and there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Just when you strat to get over morning sickness- bam, they hit you with this stuff!
