MDIPA Referral Time

I just switched my FEHB to MDIPA and will need to get a referral back to SG once Jan 2d hits. I met with my PCP yesterday and she has the referral ready to go, but she warned me that MDIPA is not always prompt, especially in January, in processing referrals and that I should prepare myself to forgo IF treatment in January. Anyone have experience switching to MDIPA in the past in January and processing a referral? Just trying to steel myself if it really will be Feb before we can move forward. Thanks.

i did 3 rounds of IVF with them at SG and the referrals were always processed within in under a week. One round was in January.

i did the same thing and started the birth control pills before the referral was finalized so i would have to totally wait until everything processed. it was stressful but ended up getting processed with mdipa on time. i think you also need to make sure that your RE stays on top of it. i thought it was mdipa that was delaying things but it ended up being the financial person at the fertility clinic who had a backlog of patients switching insurances.

Is there any way to get my insurance info before January 1? I spoke to the financial coordinator at SG (she finally called me back after two weeks of leaving messages) and said I didn't need a referral, that SG would process an authorization but that I needed to get my insurance info to her asap. I don't have it yet -- do I? I mean I don't have a card or an ID number. And then she told me that if I probably would have to sit out a month. So I could talk to my RE about doing birth control to delay my period?
