I think it's time to start seriously thinking about losing some of this baby weight! (Or maybe I'll actually start any diet after the holidays. I can't pass up on Christmas cookies and yes, I know that isn't helping my cause).
I've been fortunate in the past to have a wonderful metabolism and I could eat anything I want. Sadly, age has caught up with me and my metabolism just isn't what it used to be. I want to lose the belly fat and other fat in the middle of the boy. I know I can't spot reduce (unfortunately). What type of diet/foods should I eat to help me lose the weight? What is a good diet plan? |
There was a previous post about losing baby weight not too long ago, but it was on the old website. I am not sure if it was migrated over, but double check.
Be careful to chose an exercise plan that is right for YOU. Don't start running if you've never gone running, etc. Do something not quite as intense, yet still equally effective, like swimming. Double check with doc. of course - are you past the 6 week limit of no sex and no exercise yet? For me, I'm a lifelong runner so putting together the jogging stroller and hitting the sidewalk worked for me. I ate when I was hungry, but DIDN'T eat if I was nibbly...but if I couldn't hold off then I'd force myself to eat fruit instead of cookies. Sometimes I would splurge, but everything in moderation. That worked for me, hope that helps. I am also BFing which burns a nice chunk of calories too. I have a huge sweet tooth too!! I love Christmas cookies also so I definitely feel for ya. Keep us posted. |
I've lost 24 pounds since January doing weight watchers on-line and exercising on average 3-4 times a week (cardio machines, classes and twice weekly weight training). With WW you can eat just about anything (it's all about portion control). My "baby" is 2, so I have no more excuses. This has worked for me. Plus, I work full-time, so I bring my breakfast and lunch (most days) which really helps to control portions at those meals.
Best of luck. |
Second the WW online bit!!! It really worked for me. Lost maybe 25 pounds and then some and am below prebaby weight now. I'm even doing meetings with my sis now but mostly to maintain and hang out with her. Good luck! You can do it! |
Weight watchers all the way. I took off over 65lbs and after three years still have kept it off! |
OP here - you can do WW online? Cool! I may have to check that out![]() |
I am the poster 1st to mention WW. I only do it on-line as I have 2 beautiful boys (2 and 4) who keep me busy (not time for meetings). Plus, I have "done" WW many times, so I know the program. It has a monthly charge, but it's like $14 or something minimal like that. If you've never done it before, going to a few meetings in the beginning might be useful to understand the program. The on-line WW has forums for chatting which can be VERY helpful and supportive. If anyone else has done WW on-line only without knowing the program, then maybe she could speak to that better than I. Hope this helps. I will say like any change, it takes time and discipline. |
I did WW online without knowing the program. I was on maternity leave, so I did have some time to catch up on reading what was on the site. The first week or two was a bit confusing, but once you catch on, it's so easy to follow. I fell off the diet wagon once I went back to work, but before that happened, I lost about 16 lbs in a month, which put me several lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight. |
I am fat. Heck, I am obese. My habits have changed in the past few years -- enough to prevent the adding pounds every year trend. However, I have not been able to lose weight and keep it off. I need to lose about 100 lbs.
I am going to join Weight Watchers. Regardless, it's a matter if will power. Perhaps I need counseling for over eating. Has anyone done this?? |
ZUMBA! ZUMBA! I lost 35 pounds with Zumba, have kept it off for 2 years, and have so much fun I want to Zumba everyday! I even Zumba with my kids. |
I posted about losing the 65lbs on WW. They offer something called a "Pass". It includes online and all meetings for about $40 bucks/month I believe. If you were to purchase separately it would cost much more! I still use it and get a lot of recipes and good advice from some of the posters. Good Luck! |
First WW poster here-I second the Zumba classes. I love it, you don't even feel like you're working out. It is SOOOOO much fun and hte music is great, although my nearly 40 year old body doesn't move like some of the younger participants or teachers, but it is fun. |
I totally concur on Weight Watchers. I've lost 10 lbs in less than 2 months, eating healthier and better. I am a believer! |
Count calories. It has worked for me all my life and after dd was born. I am back in my skinny clothes 7 mos later. Try to cap at 1200 a day. |
I feel like I must be on another planet to have to ask this, but what is zumba? |
