Do things make you cry or get choked up much more since having kids?

I am not overly sentimental, but since having kids, I cry during movies, commercials, etc. so much more. Still nursing, so perhaps a hormone thing.

We watched My Left Foot today when the toddler was asleep, and I weeped during the first 20 minutes of the movie. Weird.

Anyone else?

Yup. Me, too.

I do know this: I can no longer watch any Law/Order SVU episode where a grade school age child is missing, then is found dead. Not an uncommon story line there.

My feelings about stories concerning children on the news have become more intense now that I am a mom. I am even more devastated by the tragedies--so much so that I try to avoid them; and I am thrilled to hear underdog stories.

Yep. I can't imagine seeing the new movie "Rabbit Hole" where they lose their child.

OMG me too. I used to love SVU. Then one night I'm nursing my newborn and it came on: A woman's dog got away from her and when she finally caught it had afterbirth in its mouth. I'm frantically trying to find the remote before The Reveal as Dog Lady and the woman she ran into are arguing about whether or not it really was afterbirth. I got to the remote as they came up on a pile of trash bags.

I took SVU off my DVR list right after I switched the channel.

All of the above. No more Law & Order. I have a family friend with a very ill child and I cry whenever we talk about the child's lack of progress. I am horrified at the thought of anything happening to my DS. I don't feel "invincible" anymore and worry about my DS if anything happened to me. All around much more emotional about health/well-being and sensitive to danger.

Same here. Most of my donations since having DS revolve around children causes and organization....

Yes - I had never been sentimental about babies until DD was born last Jan. I remember being up in the middle of the night pumping and watching Teenage Mom on MTV and crying about how those poor babies were in such negative environments.

And during the Olympics, I bawled whenever I saw this P&G commercial (still makes me tear up -especially the first few scenes).

Before I wouldn't have batted an eye.

I cannot watch the nightly news, cannot watch sad movies, America's Home Makeover puts me into a state.

I am a hotmess.

Absolutely - I'm way more sensitive now.

Saw a preview for "Rabbit Hole" while at a mom/baby movie and almost lost it...

Oh my gosh yes! Some Saint Jude's Children's Hospital thing had me sobbing in the car on Friday. I don't think it is hormones because I adopted my guys.
