Cheese sandwich safe to eat

Anonymous
I left a grilled cheese (individually wrapped Kraft cheese slice) sandwich I packed for lunch along with a ice packet in my lunch sack for maybe 12 hours before putting it in the fridge. The ice pack was no longer frozen by then. Is it safe to eat the sandwich or should I toss it?

You can eat it.

Thank you!

When in doubt, throw it out. This is a good food rule. Why? Ever had food poisoning? It ain't pretty. Maybe that cheese sandwich on this thread is OK but I see a lot of posts on this forum about food safety-again, follow rule one. You'll thank yourself later.

Go ahead and eat it. People take cheese backpacking and camping for days at a time with no refrigeration - it''s fine.

When I lived in France, the family kept the cheese plate in the cupboard not fridge. I'm very susceptible to GI problems but never, ever got sick there. Go figure.

Yes, cheese was invented as a way to preserve food. However, Kraft "cheese slices" are not really cheese so I doubt that applies.

So you go through all that then sit at your computer and write your post and then you will use the information to make your decision?

WOW

What are you doing here?

You should toss it.

Not because it is unsafe, but because the very idea of an individually wrapped Kraft "cheese" slice is disgusting.

you cannot equate a craft cheese slice to the cheese plates in France.

It's not even really cheese. Not sure if it really counts as food. I'd say it's as safe to eat as plastic.

True. Didn't notice that detail in the OP.
