Today is my due date and the baby hasn't dropped. He must be very comfy in there because he doesn't seem to want to come out. I was 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced at my appointment on Tuesday (1 cm dilated on the 'inside'). But I'm not having any contractions. I feel totally normal, etc.
Can anyone offer advice on how to get the baby to drop/engage? Does anything really work, or it's just whenever he's ready? I've been going for walks every day. I've been told to have lots of sex--harder to do now that I feel like a total beach ball and have the agility of a walrus. But those things are more about bringing on contractions than getting the baby to drop, right? Any advice from the sages on this site? |
sit tight and remember they are easier on the inside than on the outside sometimes. |
I think there is a thread on natural induction with a few snippets of advice on how to get things moving along. I saw i t posted not too long ago.
Good luck and congrats. |
Walk as much as possible. |
Let nature takes its course. The baby will come when it's ready and things like sex have supposedly been proved to NOT work. I know it's hard, but I bet he/she will be here within the next week. |
I have read an article about the sex thing where they researched two groups; one did have sex in the last weeks and the other group didn't. It actually turned out that the 'sex group' delivered their baby later than the other group. |
It's actually nipple stimulation that moves things along, so
foreplay rather than intercourse would be a better course of action... |
