How do I get this baby to drop??

Anonymous
Today is my due date and the baby hasn't dropped. He must be very comfy in there because he doesn't seem to want to come out. I was 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced at my appointment on Tuesday (1 cm dilated on the 'inside'). But I'm not having any contractions. I feel totally normal, etc.

Can anyone offer advice on how to get the baby to drop/engage? Does anything really work, or it's just whenever he's ready? I've been going for walks every day. I've been told to have lots of sex--harder to do now that I feel like a total beach ball and have the agility of a walrus. But those things are more about bringing on contractions than getting the baby to drop, right?

Any advice from the sages on this site?

sit tight and remember they are easier on the inside than on the outside sometimes.

I think there is a thread on natural induction with a few snippets of advice on how to get things moving along. I saw i t posted not too long ago.

Good luck and congrats.

Walk as much as possible.

Let nature takes its course. The baby will come when it's ready and things like sex have supposedly been proved to NOT work. I know it's hard, but I bet he/she will be here within the next week.

I have read an article about the sex thing where they researched two groups; one did have sex in the last weeks and the other group didn't. It actually turned out that the 'sex group' delivered their baby later than the other group.

It's actually nipple stimulation that moves things along, so
foreplay rather than intercourse would be a better course of action...
