He'll eat more or less anything off of a spoon, but won't pick up food off of the tray and put it in his mouth. If I put a whole pea in his mouth he'll spit it out, over and over again, but if I slightly mash it with a form and give it to him on a spoon he loves it. This is a problem b/c he's starting daycare in January and I can't imagine the daycare providers are going to be as patient with him as I am.

| Have you talked to his pediatrician about this? Can he do the pincher grasp on things other than food? He won't even eat cheerios? Hmmm. I'd be worried at 10 months. |
My son didn't start till 11 months - I wouldn't worry just yet. He didn't have enough teeth to chew. One day he decided he wanted to eat my grilled cheese, cruised on over and now will only eat what I am eating.

| My DS didn't put anything in his mouth until 15 months. Yes, daycare talked to me about it: and I said, he's in the infant room w/ lots of kids who don't feed themselves. Until they're 2, they feed themselves somewhat, bu not entirely. The upside is they're not chewing on toys, socks, whatever is on the floor. Don't worry, do talk to daycare, and they all do feed themselves on their own schedule. |
