Age groups are going from birth year to school year. |
Yes for ECNL. How about MLS? |
Not changing for MLS. |
The birth year change is for the 26-27 season and I believe Bethesda will stay with the calendar year to align with MLS which will stay with the international system. |
um, bethesda doesn't get to pick and chose which registration date they use. It's all dependent on the league they are in. |
Yes, but Bethesda will follow MLS Next which will follow MLS and the rest of FIFA which uses the calendar birth year. |
That’s on the Boys side, I am not sure about ECNL or GA for the girls. |
So, Bethesda could have calendar year for the boys and school year for the girls to align with ECNL. |
Either way it’s going to be a mess, who knows what EDP or NCSL or tournaments like the Jeff Cup will do. State Cups will now go back to School year following USYS. |
I think US Soccer made this compromise because the vast majority of players will never go pro or play internationally so the school year makes sense for them but MLS and the National teams can’t ignore what FIFA does. |
Even within the same club you might have splits on the Boys side depending on what MLSNext Tier 2 or NAL do? |
Right, one way they’re selling MLSNext 2 is that boys can play for their HS teams which is prohibited with MLSNext. |
Meaning it would seem to make sense to align MLSNext 2 with the school birth year. |
Please move your SY conversation to that thread. This one is for BSC haters only. |
How do people feel BSC did for next year's teams? I know some teams lost top players while others added. Parents feelings about coaches seem to vary depending on their own personal experiences. |
