| Hubbie & I are a Canadian military family. Hubby has been posted to DC come July 2011. We hope to find 3/4 bed/2.5+ house to rent in boundary areas for either Deal MS in DC, Westland MS or Pyle MS in MD, or Cooper MS in VA. Have contacted several; no replies. Any suggestions? |

A lot of agents won't work with people for rentals. There's just no money in it for them.
You can look on http://www.homesdatabase.com/ for a rental and contact the listing agent. You should also consider craigslist. I'm not sure if franklymls.com has rental listings or not, but you could check it out. |

Our agent helped us find a rental when we first moved to the area. She then was our agent a few years later when we bought a home.
She only works in VA though. Her name is Jo Ann Kennel - she works with Re/Max out of Burke. jakennel@cox.net |
| OP, it may be difficult to locate a rental seven months out. Anything that is vacant now won't be in the summer. Another option is to get a corporate rental (like Marriott extended stay) for a couple of weeks when you first arrive. You may have an easier time finding an apartment once you get here. I would start looking again in June or even May, and for the meantime, keep placing ads describing your situation on the "apartments wanted" board on craigslist.org. Perhaps a landlord will find you that way. |

We recently moved to the DC area from abroad, so I know where you are coming from. My suggestion is that you do the following: - Monitor homedatabase.com for rentals so you get a good idea of the market, what is a typical rent, what is available, etc. - Keep an eye on craigslist too, but be aware that there are A LOT of scams there - When you are 2 months from moving, contact the realtors of available properties you are interested in and take it from there |
