We're planning to host our dds' 5th and 3rd birthday party at the pump it up location in Lanham. For those of you who have hosted or attended a birthday party there, can you give me some tips or things I should know before hand. Would you recommend the classic or the ultimate weekend classic party package? If you had to do it over at pump it up, what are the things you would or would not do? Thanks.
I didn't host, just attended a party there. Don't know what package it was, but the kids had fun. My nearly 6 year old was EXHAUSTED by the end (they had at least an hour on the inflatables, maybe more, and at the end they had the lights off and the strobe light on). Only thing I didn't like was that it was so loud. But the kids probably didn't care.
Attended a party also and my 5.5 and 3.5 year old boys were wiped out afterward. We were there for 2 hours. They had a great time, plus the staff kept every one on task and moved them along to the different activities and helped the cake and ice cream portion run smoothly.
We had a party there -- can't remember if it was classic or ultimate. My kid was turning 8. We also invited sibings and just made it a big family party. Can't remember anything special -- staff were fine.
We did a party there for my four yo, same location. Loved it! Worth every penny! Before I booked I asked if they had kid appropriate music (it seemed to me that the music typically played was for a much older crowd, something you'd hear at a nightclub perhaps). They did say they could change up the music to their kid-friendly selection of tunes. I also asked that they turn the music down. We arrived early and "approved" the volume of the music. They are very organized. They cut the cake and served it along with ice cream. The party planner even asked me if it was okay for the birthday girl to give away the Disney princesses on top of the cake (as the bday girl was deciding out loud who should get which one). Don't forget to order extra pizza ahead of time as you cannot do it day of the party. But you can bring in your own drinks or other non-cooked food items. You could supplement with hummus and carrots/crackers, fruit platter, deli platter, etc...instead of extra pizza. You can also bring in your own music CD for your time in the party room. One last thing, the time in the party room goes quickly, so I recommend mapping it out ahead of time (e.g. eat food for 5 minutes to set down, eat for 10-12 minutes, serve cake at ----, open presents at ----, party bags at ----). Have fun!
Thanks for all the comments. 22:58, which of the packages did you choose? Did you have more than 25 guests. If you did, how did that work out? Thanks.
My son had his 4th bday party there and can't recommend it highly enough. Kids LOVED it and were exhausted. We had about 20 kids on the weekend.
We have been to two parties there and think that is the best venue around, I am surprised there is not one in MoCo. It is fun because parents are encouraged to participate to. I would let guests know to dress it layers. The kids get very hot and sweaty and need t-shirts as opposed to sweaters
There is a small inflatables place in Lakeforest Mall, and I believe some type of bouncy place in Clarksburg. But I am pretty surprised there isn't one in Rockville or Silver Spring - seems to be a huge market for it. |
The lack of bounce houses in Montgomery County is a pet peeve of mine! We do go out to Bounce U in Clarksburg, but it's a hike. |
We have been to a bunch of parties there. I freaking love it! I guess because I can jump too. I also like how they break it all up. One room then cake and then another room.
OP here. Thanks for all your replies. I guess the vote is unanimous for pump it pump. For those of you who have hosted there, is the classic ultimate weekend party worth the extra price charged or should I just go with the classic party? Thanks again.
22:58 here. I went with the el cheapo option. And they "threw in" the strobe lights, which we didn't know until we switched to the second bounce area. The kids loved that part. We did not go over 25 kids.
