Infertility Support and Discussion
|
I'm in my first round of IVF (BCP, Lupron, Gonal F and Menopur). I was just told to increase my meds again as my estrogen is still really low (47, from 20 2 days ago).
I had one failed IUI round with the same problem -- really low estrogen (despite several good sized follicles). Have others advocated for better access to doctors at times like this? I'm with Osborn, who I like just fine, but feel so out of touch when all I have is a nurse saying she'll 'email the doctor' and ask. I'm wondering if I should push for a change in meds, especially since it seems I'm having the same issue as before (and I'm wondering if the doctor didn't anticipate that??) Have others tried switching protocols mid-cyle? The nurse who just called suggested I ask to do just Menopur.... but then said she wasn't a doctor so didn't know for sure. Thanks for any advice. I'm at a complete loss and feeling pretty down, especially since we're paying out of pocket and I feel like all is lost already. |
| My sense is this has more to do with precycle suppression (the bcps and lupron) than the meds your on now. I do think the fact that your e2 doubled in 2 days is a good sign, so I would wait and see what happens next. If this cycle is cancelled, I would suggest pushing for no suppression next cycle (antagon protocol). |
| Thanks a lot for your reply, 14:25. Turns out my RE said the same thing.... We'll know more two days from now I suppose. This precyle suppression seems easy to avoid, however the RE said it was easier to 'catch up' than to backtrack from OHSS, etc. Guess that makes sense, but it's amazing how much this is all a guessing game, at least for the first round! Folks should really consider that if they're paying out of pocket, like we are..... |
| GL OP! I agree w/your RE on the over suppression theory. But hopefully with an increase to your FSH meds you will see an increase in your E2 in the next draw. I know, it sucks, especially when you are OOP. |
