Chili is too watery -- any way to fix it?

Anonymous
I added a bottle of bear to the chili like a friend recommended, but it's too watery for my taste. Should I just continue to simmer uncovered until it evaporates?

Tomato paste to the rescue!

It can also boil down quite a bit.

Masa flour.

cornstarch. Mix a tsp well with a little water first, then add it to the chili. Continue to add a little until you have your desired consistency.

Ditto on the tomato paste. Also consider adding small amount of wheat bran or wheat germ.

OP, here. Thanks for the tips! I did add a can of tomato paste and that helped some. I let it simmer another half hour. It's for tomorrow night, so we'll see what the consistency is like then.

And sorry for the typo in the original post -- I meant beer, not bear. And no I hadn't had any of it to drink.

whenever i want a soup/sauce to get thicker quickly, i'll just mix in a flour/water slurry or cornstarch/water slurry. you just don't want to do too much, and you want to make sure it cooks so it doesn't make the whole dish taste like it has a thickener in it.

YOu could also blend up some of the beans (if you have beans in it) and throw them back in.
