| They are so nasty. Why do so many people use them in their homes? Does anyone really put their baby's naked butt on the kitchen counter to change their diaper then wipe it down with a clorox wipe? I wouldn't want clorox wipes residue where I prepare food any more than I would a naked butt. And why are they in every classroom? Someone in their PR department deserves a big, fat raise. I think they are overkill -- and stink. |
| I use them to wipe down the toilet/floor from my preschool boys. Believe me - you want me to use them if you even came to my house. |
| I don't get why you think they are so nasty? I love disinfecting... |
| Agree they are nasty. |
This. They are the only reason my bathroom stays presentable with two toddler boys and an another overgrown toddler that I married. |
| I don't use wipes -- are they somehow different than other cleaners, or do you just not like bleach in general? I used to be anti-bleach, but like another person said, when my son started using the toilet, disinfection just needs to be done. Anything less is out of the question. I spray a bleach spray on everything and wipe it up with paper towels. Seems similar to a Clorox wipe to me. |
I use bleach when I have to and I actually like the smell. I miss the smell of bleached sheets. The wipes smell totally different -- really harsh and nasty and they just dominate every other smell. I have two boys and I agree they are worse than cats. I keep a spray bottle of vinegar in the bathroom and I use it clean the toilet and the floor around the toilet All. Day. Long. |

I'm not sure I understand the rant. Is the classroom really a daycare?
There are rules that daycares and schools must follow. In our preschool, certain things MUST be cleaned with a disenfectant. Parents have to help clean, and I try to avoid bleach (makes me feel horrible to smell it), but we have to use something that says discenfectant in it. I'd rather use a wipe then spray stuff and get it in the air. While I try to avoid using chemcals at home (I use vinegar to clean most things), I do keep Clorox wipes in the kitchen for when I am working with raw chicken and need to clean up quickly. I don't put food on the area I just wiped. |
No, it's elementary school. They seem to be in every room. |
| I use them to wipe out the little potty on the floor after I dump it in the toilet. Love them. |

Do the wipes actually disinfect anything?
When I use bleach to disinfect, the directions say to clean the areas first with soap and water, and then use the bleach solution to saturate the area, and let it stand for at least 2 minutes before wiping it up! When I use a wipe, usually I'm actually cleaning up some kind of spill or dirt. I don't then follow through with a second wipe to disinfect, and certainly the surface isn't saturated with liquid for 2 minutes. |
| I love them! Make cleaning so much easier. I also have a 3yo little boy! |
| I use white vinegar for ALMOST everything, unless its truly disgusting, I will break out the bleach. |
| I use them on the bathroom sink/toilet and kitchen counter. Nobody's butt goes on there though. I don't see the problem with wipes specifically. |
PP here - ha, butts go on the toilet but I don't use the wipes on the top of the seat. |
