Westland Middle School - future issues?

Anonymous
Hi -

I'm still a little confused by the article (below) regarding the BCC cluster and potential impact on Westland. If I have a child starting elementary school at Somerset next year, how concerned should I be about Westland and what it will be like a few years down the road? Does this mean problems, or will the issues be limited to the elementary schools referenced in the article?

Thanks!

My son is at Westland and we love the school, truly it has been amazing.

The biggest impact that I see this having for the Somerset kids is that, without the RCF, CC and NCC kids Westland will be significantly less diverse. We specifically chose Westland when looking for homes over Pyle and other schools because diversity is important to me, so I would be quite upset if I were a Somerset parent. Then again, I probably wouldn't have chosen Somerset for the same reason.

Other than diversity concerns, I don't think this will effect the Somerset kids much. They'll still go to Westland in 6th grade, and it will probably still be great. If the school's not built on time there will likely be trailers etc. . . but I suspect they'll handle it well.
