Infertility Support and Discussion
I am about to start Gonal-F injections to prepare for the IUI. I've never taken and fertility drugs and a bit concerned about side effects. Could you share your experiences? Thanks.
I've taken 300 iu's of Gonal - F for my ivf cycles...no real side effects to complain about. Once in awhile I got a brief headache and my ovaries were sore by the end of the cycle only because they were growing follicles, so that was a good thing. Since you are doing an IUI, I'm sure your dose will be lower than mine, which leads me to believe your side effects should be even less. No worries, you will be fine. It is really not that bad. GL!
Same side effects at PP except that I also had some really nasty bruising. The only shot that bothered me was the menopur, which I thought hurt like hell.
The gonal-f caused a pretty strong stinging/burning sensation at the injection site for about 10 or so minutes but that was the only thing I noticed.

I just took Gonal-F for the first time. It wasn't bad at all, except that there was some burning/stinging at the injection site. Compared to how Clomid made me feel (tears, tears and more tears) and the progesterone, I would say that Gonal-F was a breeze.
Good luck! |
Sore ovaries, that was about it.
OP here. Thank you, ladies, for your responses. I was told by my RE that Gonal-F has no side effects as opposed to Clomid, but I didn't believe him . It's good to get reassurance from people who actually went through these injections.

I've gotten yeast infections from Gonal F and other meds for IUI and IVF rounds. Anyone else have this problem?
I had yeast infections from progesterone suppositories.
The suppositories are just nasty.
OP here. Started Gonal-F injections 3 days ago and noticed severe bloating every afternoon. Has anyone experienced this side effect? It's annoying especially during the holiday season when you need to fit into cocktail dresses for the parties.
