| My mother is the hardest person to shop for. And of course the idea I had (a case for her new iPad) was snatched up by my little sister! My mother is Southern, widowed but with a "friend", loves Paris, the color chartreuse, monograms, good scotch and will traveling to see my family for the holidays so I have to have something for her. No blaming "shipping problems" this year. I'd like to spend between $75 and $150. It has to fit in her luggage or carry on. Any suggestions? Last year I went in on a large John Derian platter with my sister. Sadly a joint gift this year isn't an option. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks. |
| Hermes scarf-though above your budget. Sounds like my MIL and that's what I'd give her. |
| a really nice scarf? |
| A really nice bottle of scotch? And maybe a monogrammed fancy glass to drink it from |

I love the last posters idea!!
She has so many Hermes scarves I wouldn't know which one to get. But it is out of my price range. Ugh! I'm tempted to go out of the agreed "range" but my sister would be so upset. Keep the ideas coming! |

Monogrammed beautiful sheets
Soft lovely leather gloves in an unexpected color French cooking class |
All good suggestions, but she already has monogrammed sheets (she even gas her own monogramming machine!), it's too warm in the South where she lives forg gloves, and her "friend" does all the cooking. I'm at a total loss. Just checked Neimans and looking at Oorah's favorite things list. |
| e-books for the Ipad? |

I don't know anything about them, but it seems perfect for a scotch lover!

| PP again. There are more soapstone options if you google it. Some for $23 on Amazon. Maybe you could pair them with some nice rocks glasses (I don't particularly like the ones from Red Envelope) or a bottle stopper or even a nice crystal bottle. Or pair with some nice coasters....you get the idea. |
| I just got my MIL Cartier perfume and Natori pajamas from Niemans. Gave it to her for an early hanukkah present--she was thrilled. I have to say that I too am coveting a pair of the lace trimmed natori pajama-they are so soft and luxurious. LOVE them. |

do these not scream perfect MIL gift????

A couple fifths of Johnnie Walker Swing; a chartreuse cashmere sweater (I have one this color and I love it) paired with Navy blue slacks; a gold monogramed pin. Actually, I have all of these things and I love all of them. I'm from the south, lived in Paris, your mother and I could probably find a lot to talk about. Merry Christmas. |
| A nice pair of gloved might be a great idea even though she lives in a warmer climate. She probably doesn't have any and she could use them if she's visiting you in DC in December. And if she travels (to Paris?) frequently, she would need a pair. |
