worthy of being shown in a magazine? If you looked at many of these home design magazines, you would think that one half of all American homes are headed by two men.
I wonder what this says about regular old families. Our homes look bad because we have a troop of kids and possibly one (good) income. Or, we will never be meticulous enough to make a home like those pristine ones. Or, we have no taste. |
| Wow. That's a lot of judgment of many types of families based simply on a magazine. Impressive. |
| I really don't understand this post. Why are you comparing regular old families' homes to tho those homes found in design magazines? Do you not realize they are not meant to depict regular old homes? I'm also not sure why the "gays" need to be blamed for the magazine editors decision, but yes I am sure there are some gay men who have a higher disposable income than regular old families and therefore can afford to purchase a 5K lamp etc... |
| Um...what the fuck? |
| OP, if what you are saying is that gay men should be allowed to marry, have children and create "regular old families" like the rest of us, I wholeheartedly agree. |
|
I think it is because straight people have no taste. The gay couples I know do have a child and only one good income, so those two things can't be the explanation.
I base all my assumptions on the few, two-dad households I know. |
|
Because all gay men are home decorators and interior designers right?
I've seen well maintained and decorated homes by married straight couples too. And vice versa where homes are not as "pristine". Plus, when someone has company or is getting pictures taken the home needs to be clean for a short period of time. It's what happens in between that matters. |
Exactly! |
There are some people who keep their homes in good shape all the time. That said, there are a number of these architecural envy homes out there that belong to two men, rarely two women. |
LOL! Literally, this was my exact thought when reading the title.
|
| I think it has more to do with the fact that gay men are more likely not to have children. |
Children drain cash and tear up homes. |
| I like to blame the kids. but sadly, the truth is, we weren't going to be featured in any magazines before the kids, nor indeed after they leave home... |
| Yes. And lesbians drive subarus. Next? |

well you could also be a boomer couple without kids or kids in college. All pucker faced and smugly content with your easily won jobs and mega millions.
or you could be a really wealthy coastal (LA / NY) couple with a trove of household help. |
