I try to make my lunch for work, I really do, but either it doesn't happen or the thought of eating the same things again just does not appeal to me. I don't need make ahead lunch suggestions.. what I AM wondering is, where can I pick up lunch at 8:00 am that will still be good 4 hrs later? any suggestions?

Salads from a Cosi? Those breakfast food bars (at the places normally run by Korean families) have good options that would keep well.

If it was convenient, I would hit the food bar(s) at Whole Foods in the morning before work and put together a different ensemble every day.

Of course, this would be more expensive than most Cosi/food court /au bon pain options. What is your objective in bringing lunch, OP? Low cost? nutrition? non-fried?

Maybe bagels and cream cheese or something like that?

I sometimes pick up a sandwich at the bagel place (with tuna/egg salad) and throw it in the fridge. Do you have access to a fridge?

Harris Teeter has pre-made sandwich packs with potato salad and a pickle that are $4 and pretty good. Grocery stores usually have sushi or pre-made salads too.

Believe it or not, Starbucks has a nice prepackaged meal that has a hard-boiled egg, some peanut butter and I think some apple slices and other stuff. I've gotten it in a pinch and thought it was good.
