Around 14 weeks now with the second kid. Thinking about taking tennis lessons- think it prudent? I'm rather uncoordinated, but thought it would be fun. Thoughts?

as long as your doc thinks it is ok, why not? my SIL taught all sorts of aerobic right up until she gave birth with both her pregnancies... i, however, was told nothing but swimming after 14 weeks..... |
I am an avid tennis player and had to stop after about 16 weeks because we were doing intense drills and running around and it was too much for me. Do whatever is comfortable for you and whatever you docotr tells you (there was a girl on my team that played in our league matches till she was about 5-6 months along). If you are a beginner, chances are you will be focusing on stroke development and not running around so you might be able to play a little longer. |
Just read about that on babycenter.com. Guess be careful with the stop and go movements you don't want to injure yourself not being used to those moves (and being uncoordinated.. ![]() |

what doctor told you that??????????????????? that is the most antiquated craziness i have ever ever heard. seriously. unless you are high risk, however. |
I think talking it over with your doctor is right. That said, I'm a big believer in not trying anything new in terms of exercise (except for low impact execise like walking) while you're pregnant - if you were an avid player beforehand, shouldn't be a problem. But why take up a sport that requires coordination and running (even if you're a newby, most tennis lessons try to give you a bit of aerobic activity) while pregnant. |
