My club has already had ECNL tryouts for next year and solidified the teams. My guess is they're not blind to a change if it was happening for next year. Everything is staying the same. As someone above said, CA has tryouts for younger kids in January and that's when the SY team selections start.

"Your club" had tryouts at the end of April or beginning of May, so therefore "everything is staying the same." You may be right - but like you said it is your "guess."

ECNL already told directors that they are changing. They just haven’t specified using 8/1, 9/1 or something like that.
Best guess is will be 9/1.

They can’t. It doesn’t align with international norms.

Exactly, the problem is pay to play + college has allowed players and parents that should have been filtered out by u12 to still be pushing for things in the sport.

MLS wants to appear as a professional league (even though it’s more of franchise network that works as a group and splits the profits) If MLSN adopted SY internationally they’d be laughed at.

Everyone else should have been filtered out of youth soccer by U12 except the future pros?? Or are you just saying they should sit tf down and not weigh in on rules for their own leagues, while the pro clubs make rules for them? This board is crazy.

Lol. All English academies play a 9/1 year. English academies seem to be doing just fine.

This is the issue. Either you look at sports as something who's only goal is to play professionally. Or you view sports as something you do for recreation.

The further you go up the competitive flagpole the more people will be aligned with playing professionally.

BY = professional
SY = recreation

I'm just here waiting for a GA announcement so I can choose the best club for my Q42013. Granted, now I'm just here with my popcorn and to read how everyone thinks their own kid should be going pro!

The rumor is that Q4 parents wanting to club hop based on league rules is exactly why they are waiting until after tryouts to make announcements. If the leagues wait until this summer to change the rules (to perhaps allow Q4s to play down), then the clubs can dictate who to move between teams - not the parents.

Sounds like GA might go SY year as well and is still being discussed. Will either be BY with late developer that allows 8/1-12/31 players to go down (not mandated) or SY but they would allow kids to play up to 2 GA games in a day. We should get the final answer soon enough.

Yup! wont know until late after ECNL tryout window is over.

If US Soccer agrees on a transit plan from a league, the plan must be kept away from the public until all 25/26 teams are formed. Thus, there will be no interleague poaching because of the transit plan.

Based on our ECNL tryout, I do not think there will be any major transit plan in 25/26. It will be a hard switch. RL SY parents are already disappointed.

Let me reframe my question- we don't want to club hop. So we want to be with a club with a SY platform

No kidding. And btw, professional teams are not BY. Professional teams don't have age cutoffs.

Question for MLS Academy parents... if your club goes straight from U16 to U18, how do you currently play all your international matches at the U17 level?

There is no transition plan from US Soccer. The "transit plan" is essentially what you see now: announce a change a year in advance to let orgs and clubs plan their own needs.
