Shady Grove holiday shutdown

Does anyone know the shutdown dates for cycling at the Rockville office? Thank you!

The shutdown is for IVF procedures only and is usually the last two weeks of the year. It impacts IVF cycles at all offices, since all procedures are done in Rockville. All transfers need to be completed before the shutdown and any cycle starts during the shutdown would need to be timed to ensure retrieval happens after they re-open. Any office should be able to give you the actual dates for this year. The rest of the Rockville office is still open for monitoring, doctor appts, IUIs, etc as is the case with all other offices.

For the record, Dominion also shuts down.

To make sure I understand, are you saying that if you do an IVF cycle that starts in December it needs to start at the beginning of December?

exactly.
there's a day in early December which is the last day they allow patients to start stims for IVF so that all retrievals and transfers are completed prior to the last two weeks of December. I'm not sure exactly when this day is but any of the nurses could tell you. They continue to do monitoring for IUIs, etc during the last 2 weeks so the clinics are open (just not the IVF lab). I believe you can also start stims, during the very last week of December as long as the retrieval/transfer will be in early January.

Oh, and they won't allow you to start a cycle if it happens that the shutdown occurs when you'd potentially have your ER. They thoroughly clean the lab during the shutdown so there are no exceptions.

They don't allow procedures during the shutdown so that they can get the embryology equipment recalibrated. Embryos can't be sustained with the equipment, so they stop procedures to give a window in which the equipment can be checked/fixed. Most clinics have the shutdown at Christmas, since many people also don't want the stress of cycling over the holidays and the staff at the clinics can also enjoy the time more thoroughly.
