I recently found out that I am pregnant. We are thrilled. My SIL is getting married in a few weeks -- I will be 9 weeks at her wedding. I am in the wedding, and have to have dresses for a luncheon and the rehearsal dinner, too. I got my bridesmaid dress a few weeks ago and had figured I'd wear dresses I already had to the other 2 events. I'm guessing that at 9 weeks I'll still be able to wear all my current clothes. Am I right, or am I being completely unrealistic? The bridal store can let the bridesmaid dress out, but the store isn't in the area and I can't wait until the last minute to do it, so I'd have to start making plans to alter the dress soon, without knowing how big I would be. What are the chances I'll still fit in the dresses I fit in today? |
You will fit (unless you take pregnancy to mean "I can eat anything I want") , but you might not look as good as you would have a few weeks earlier. |
I agree with the first half of the PP post (I even had a fibriod that made my uterus measure 20+ weeks by the 8-week mark and I was still fitting into my wardrobe). I disagree, though, with the second half - you will still look fabulous then, as well as when your pregnancy is "full blown" (though in a different way, but still fabulous)! |
You'll fit just fine. I'm 13 weeks - personally I feel I'm totally showing but people don't notice. I'm wearing all regular clothes, the only thing that I really feel is tight at the waist are my pants (which I wear unbuttoned with a belt), everything else, tops, dresses etc fit just fine.
Are you planning on announcing it before the end of the first trimester? |
I would be shocked if at 9 weeks you couldn't wear the dress. You may be surprised how long you can go before normal clothing truly doesn't fit. This is especially true if it's your first pregnancy, which I assume it is. Have fun and Congratulations! |
As long as its not one of those really fitted dresses around the waist, I think you'll be ok, as long as this is your first pregnancy. If it were your second, you might already be in maternity clothes haha!! |
You'll probably fit. I'm assuming this is your first pregnancy and that the dress isn't a sheath dress. You may notice slightly fuller breasts at 9 weeks. |
My guess is you will look just fine. I fit into my clothes at that point, and the little bit of roundness was actually attractive. The best part for me? I went from a bra size A to C at that point. It was really fun to have the new additions.
Enjoy the wedding, and congratuations on your pregnancy! |
I echo that you'll fit, but be prepared for larger breasts. |
at 9 weeks i fit into all my clothes, but some of them were a bit tighter due to big boobs and the bloat. but you should be completely fine. |
You should fit into the dress, but might feel a little bloated. |
I'm going to disagree and say -- it depends on the fit and cut of the dress. |
Depends on what the top is like - I'm 13 weeks and while everything "fits" some of my tops are no longer appropriate given the new size of the boobs which appparently were a huge give-away! ![]() ![]() |
You should be fine at 9 weeks, even if the dress is really fitted. You really aren't supposed to put on any weight through 12 weeks. Your body may change a bit (especially boobs), but you should for the most part be the same. I am 18 weeks with my 2nd and not really showing. Still wearing the same clothes, although I am a "late shower". |
