How do you get lint and especially pet fur off of fleece?

Anonymous
My fleece jacket is covered in crud. I went over it yesterday with no fewer than SEVEN sheets of tape roller, and it still has cat fur and other little bits on it. Is there any way to get it looking like something other than a barn coat?

Did you try washing it?

Clearly, PP doesn't have fleece and pets, or she would know that it comes out of the wash just as fur-laden as it went in. Something about fleece just grabs on to fur and won't. let. go. Unless there's some expert laundry maneuver that I don't know about...

Have you tried vacuuming it with the upholstery attachment on your vacuum? Mine has an adjustable suction setting, so you can set it lower so you don't eat the whole piece of clothing.

I just threw away my son's fleece b/c it came out of the laundry with tons of tiny white pieces of crap all over it. I used a lint brush and even duct tape but it wouldn't come off. I was wondering the same thing myself. I washed it 2-3 times to try to get rid of it. It didn't work.

Most drycleaners sell a steel-wool type of brush that will remove pills and I am betting it will remove pet hair too. If it's the kind of pet hair that we have (individual strands) then you are better off picking it off by hand.

We do not wear or own fleece anymore because of our pets. And I am meticulous about vacuming. Pets and fleece just dont mix.

What about one of those de-fuzzers?

Soak the fleece is water with hair conditioner.

Land's end sells a particular type of fleece that repels pet hair. I can try to find the link. (for the PPs who have given up on fleece).

Ooh, a tip! Thanks! How much do you use? What does it do? Do you soak, then wash, then put it in the dryer?

How does that work?

7:30 poster again.

It's the LE ThermaCheck 100 Fleece:

It's advertised as repelling lint, and the reviews seem to support that (see the one from by kcole on Nov 14, for example).
