Post Interview Follow Up Ettiquette (Advice Please)

Anonymous
So I had an interview about a week ago. I was interviewed by the HR Director along with the person who would be my supervisor. I already sent in the thank you cards to both of them individually last week, but I would like to follow up on the status. Can I email them to find out if they have made a decision? If yes, do I email them both? I was thinking of emailing the supervisor and CCing the HR director. I would appreciate your advice. thanks!

I don't think I would f/u yet.

No. If you haven't heard anything by the week after Thanksgiving, then call. They might not be done interviewing yet, and the fact that it's a holiday week means they may not be able to meet internally. Don't nag.

Did you ask what sort of timeline they were thinking when you interviewed? I usually do that, plus one week, before contacting them again. Also, if you contact them, just email or call one of them. CCing will either look like you wanted to contact them both but were too lazy to send separate emails, or it'll look like you're pushing the other one to reply b/c you've cc'd HR.

Thanks everyone! I guess the consensus is to back off so I will heed that advice. When I interviewed, I asked when they planned to make their decision and they were very wishy washy about it but said that they want someone soon.

I'd give them 2 weeks, if not 3. <2 weeks is pushy; if you wait 4 weeks they may already have selected their candidate (or next group of interviewees) & you'll miss out on the chance to tell them how much you liked them.
