Infertility Support and Discussion
| Got a diagnosis of scar tissue in my uterus, which Dr. Sacks says is probably stopping implantation. So he wants to do surgery. Says it's out-patient with "mild sedation" (although since I'm still queasy thinking about the HSG I just had, I'm wishing it was more like moderate to severe sedation....). Has anyone done this before? With Dr. Sacks? I have an office appt soon to get the details from him, but of course I'm curious to hear from you all anyway. Thanks. |
| I didn't have this procedure with Dr. Sacks, but I had two succcessful IUIs w/ him. I think he's a great doctor that you can trust. I agree that the HGS was worse than I was anticipating based on his description. I wouldn't hesitate to tell him that so that you can get a better sense of the surgery you're facing. Best of luck to you! |

OP: Are you trying for your second (or more)? Just wondering where the scar tissue came from. I've got one and am having trouble getting number 2....
Love Dr. Sacks and am now not looking forward to my HSG. |

OP here. I have 3 year old and have been trying for #2 for a year. My OB/GYN has been unhelpful and said until it was a full year not to worry.... I finally realized I should ignore that and see an RE. Wish I'd done it sooner. Had the HSG last week. I'll be honest - there was a moment of pain that made me gasp, but that was after he'd been looking around already for a bit and wanted a closer look (closer meaning higher up into my uterus). It's not pleasant, but it's not unbearable and it's over in minutes. He said he actually removed some of the scar tissue during the HSG, which I passed the next day - that's probably the part making me the most squeamish. Gross! But honestly I'm sort of dreading the surgery now except that there will be some level of sedation.
Placenta wouldn't come out with my first delivery, and OB had to go back in (seriously, up past her elbow) to work it out. My lay-guess is that whatever caused that problem resulted in scar tissue. Dr. Sacks seemed pretty sure this was my "diagnosis" for infertility - here's hoping! |
| He didn't remove scar tissue from me, but he did remove a uterine polyp last year. The procedure was no problem at all. I also didn't have a problem with the HSG, so maybe I'm just not as squeamish down there. He's a great doctor and I would trust that he will remove the scar tissue with as minimal amount of pain as possible. Mild sedation really does work well. Good luck! |
| He removed scar tissue for me about a year and a half ago. The procedure is very easy and you won't remember any of it. You get IV sedation and are pretty much out. I may have had some mild cramping but nothing significant and I had some bleeding for a week or so after, but very light. You are in good hands, so I would not worry too much. |
| Thanks, everyone. I'm very happy to have been referred to Dr. Sacks by this board. I felt much better about this all as soon as I met him. |
