Last I heard, grandparents are not parents of their grandchildren. Their children are. You do realize that in America, people come from all over the world, right? We have ancestors from Spain, who came her America before the American Revolution. |
It says he survived by his wife, Dr. Kathryn Hayward of Mallorca, Spain.... |
I've gone down the rabbit hole. To summarize 90 plus pages, parents live in Spain and had an interest in Spain but did not move there until this decade. This is NOT the same as the things she claims to be true: -Identified in media as being "Spanish"--never corrected. - Claims she was born in Spain and divided time in Spain and Boston. Her mom is on a youtube video saying she was in medical school in the US and birthed child around finals. - In early videos she spoke English with a Spanish accent and claimed to not know words like cumcumber. - Media reports her mother as being Spanish. Yet Mom has not accent in her English and mom's parents born in US. - She appears to have altered her appearance (died hair dark) and claims surprise by her kids white features (blue eyes etc). In sum: clear her family has interest in Spain and her parents currently live there but all other claims of her being Spanish seem dubious. As to why this matters: At best, it is fake and a lie. At worst, it is cultural appropriation including as to Spanish-speakers who are a discriminated minority in this country. |
Yes, her parents moved to Mallorca, where they used to spend holidays, after retiring from their jobs in Boston, MA. If my American parents used to holiday in the South of France, can I claim to be French and adopt a French accent? |
But do you speak with a Spanish accent? |
Welcome to the rabbit hole! The part about her mother being Spanish is the most easy to disprove. Her mother's parents were lifelong residents of Massachusetts. They did appear to travel a lot (her father was an art historian and they led tours abroad). But they lived and worked in the US. Her mother speaks English with no accent. Her father supposedly speaks Spanish and studied Spanish literature (I believe) at Haverford. They moved to Mallorca in 2011, "and prior to that had been frequent visitors to Spain" according to her father's on bio on his website: https://integrativelife.ro/speakers/david-thomas/ |
| Ahhh, I love coming back to this thread and reading the updates. I am adopted and believe I have 100% Hispanic biological parents. My adoptive parents are not Latinx and actually raised me according to their backgrounds. I would never dream of calling myself Hispanic even though if I did a DNA test, I guess that’s what would show up. Just stunned by the lack of self-awareness people like this have. |

So you are this OP below and just can't let it rest, eh? What a psycho you are. She's moved on. She doesn't want to be friends with you anymore. Just let it go.

English is not my first language and often I forget or confuse words... but NOT remembering such a simple and commonly used word as CUCUMBER? LOL She is such an air head.

That is Elton John.... |
| I'm new to this thread. I have no idea really who HB is and wondered why this thread is always at the top so I started reading. Does she have dual citizenship? People who have parents born elsewhere, but have grown up in America, often call themselves Americans, or hyphenated Americans. So I'm not seeing why this is controversial? The internet seems to suggest she does have dual citizenship. I get that she's blurring the lines and allowing people to think her upbringing is different than it was and faking the accent, etc. |
M o s t l i k e l y scenario. The fixation is bizarre. And the cultural appropriation bit is only a convenient recent validation of their crazy. |
It's actually more like your 100% Caucasian parents retire to Morocco, then you start calling yourself African-American and act surprised that your children didn't come out of the womb with kinky hair! |

She's beautiful and she has 5 kids. Yet everyone on DCUM hates her.
Probably trying to have as many kids as possible before she gets found out. Wonder if she's pregnant yet. Personally I hope she has another few kids. |
She can go on having more kids even when something comes out about this. Alec is worth 65 million! And she's probably made several million herself since being married to him (some as a result of her "Spanish" heritage.) They can have as many kids as they want! |
