Infertility Support and Discussion
We have 1 frozen embryo that we plan to use this coming year. The frozen embryo transfer, which includes thawing and transfer, is $4,000 (with no insurance). I believe there is a 10% chance that after the thawing process they will find that the embryo is not viable and then we would only pay a portion of the fee, which I think is still pretty significant. Is there anyone this happened to who can tell me about what the failed thawing cost you? Thanks.
Call your financial advisor at SG. They can let you know what lab costs might run for thaw, in addition to the actual cost of transfer.
I did call. He said it would maybe be about $2,000 but did not have an exact dollar amount to give me. It seems to depend on what gets done to the embryo and at what point the embryo is deemed to not be usable I guess. Then you get charged on a per service basis. There may not be an eaxact answer but just looking for what anyone else's experiences might be.
