IVF at Columbia Fertility

I am about to have my first IVF -

Where is the IVF usually done? In a hospital, in their office (I am in Bethesda location)

How long does the IVF take for both retrieval and transfer?

Can I drive home after transfer procedure?

I had my IVF done at CFA's DC office. It all went very smoothly. They have their own OR on the first floor of the building. You have to get there about 1 hour before your retrieval for prep and to receive the anesthesia. The retrieval itself only takes about 15 mintues. They then keep you there about 1 hour afterward and monitor your heart rate because you have been under anesthesia. I don't think you can drive yourself home after being put under. I'd have your sig other or a friend drive you home. The transfer takes all of 5 minutes. It's very easy and painless. If I recall, I think they ask you to lay back and relax for about 15 mintues after the transfer, but that's it. You can drive home after that because there's no medication involved. Good luck! Really, it's nothing to worry about. The entire process is not bad at all.
