GDS admission survey

Here's our chance to tell them what we think about the soft wait list!

Would you prefer they just flat out tell you that your child is rejected (READ, blatantly state that s/he is not qualified enough, desirable enough, adorable enough, smart enough, engaging enough, interesting enough)?

What about levels of wait-list/rejection -- a true wait list (i.e., if an accepted kid does not accept, moves from area, etc.), you're one of a few on deck, a soft wait list (i.e., great kid, would do well here and anywhere else, but just didn't make the cut for now, maybe if stars align, but unlikely), and a flat out reject (i.e., there's something truly deficient with DC, or the parents, or both).

Kudos to GDs for asking what parents think.

The OP is not GDS.

Yes.

OP here: My post was not meant to be a survey. GDS has put together a survey about the admissions process, which I presume has been emailed to all applicant families.

No kidding? Wow, then KUDOS to Ms. Stein. That's great. I would love for the schools to stop jerking parents around.

Now, is Annie reading this????????

Norwood has also done a survey.

I told them we withdrew our child's application because we found the parent interview so obnoxious.

We didn't apply after the tour because as a "minority" family we didn't feel comfortable with what felt to us like quotas in each classroom.

Wow, GDS is being slammed. I thought it was supposed to be one of the "nicest" schools around.

I thought it was a great school, I liked Jenny Stein, and I enjoyed talking to her. I just wish they had a "real" wait list.

If that was your take, then there are probably only a few schools you should consider -- like Lowell or Annunciation or Holy Trinity (in MD).

Yet another witch hunt. I'm sure most of the slamming about GDS and any other school discussed on DCUM is done by those whose DC was rejected or waitlisted. I guess no club is worth being in unless you or your DC is in it, right? Folks really need to just move on.
