| I am in the market for a new doctor and just talked to one who sounded very nice. Almost as an after-thought, I asked her the cost of the initial session, which is 90 minutes. $650! I imagine my insurance will cover only a small fraction of that. Am interested in whether this is truly the market rate these days or if I just happened to select a very high-priced doctor. |
| I don't know but I am curious" what are subsequent sessions running? |
|
that is crazy high. mine was about $350 for the initial session which I believe is also 90 minutes

Thank you! That is what I thought.
14:12: If your doc is in NW DC or close-in burbs and you like him/her, will you pass on the name? |
| You should call your insurance and find out what is covered. Ask them if they can tell you what is the average cost for a session. |

OP,
What's a session going to run? What if it's lower than PP's with the $350 initial session? It would even out! |
| I pay $225 for a 45 minute session. The initial 95 min session was double her then normal rate of $200, so $400. This is on K Street, NW. |
Your insurance will also be able to recommend doctors in-network, if that's an issue. The paperwork is a bit of a hassle otherwise. At the end of the day it's your co-pay that you care about, right? They can let you know what to expect in that regard as well. |
