Infertility Support and Discussion
|
Recently I read a statistic that said 50% of people who need fertility treatment to become pregnant never actually see a reproductive endocrinologist. This made me start thinking, WHY? If someone had broken their leg, surely they would see an orthopedist to get it fixed. If one were diagnosed with diabetes, they would schedule an appointment with an endocrinologist. I started asking around and found that many people were actually either afraid of the commitment or the cost of IVF.
What people don’t seem to realize is that most of our patients never actually have to undergo in vitro fertilization to become pregnant at our office. We informally polled our office staff and looked over statistics and found that only about 40% of our patients actually require IVF to become pregnant. Many solutions to infertility are very simple and noninvasive. There are treatment options that can easily reverse infertility without the burden of major surgery, high doses of medications and an ever-higher medical bill. My hope is that people who desire to become a mother or a father and have the family they always wanted read this and realize that there are many avenues to parenthood with help from our office. Some patients just need small adjustments in their hormone levels to help them ovulate or have their partner’s sperm “washed” so the strongest sperm have a better chance at penetrating the egg on their own. Some of our patients leave with a prescription and return for a pregnancy test.yes""> Our number one goal is to get you pregnant the simplest and least invasive way that we can, as soon as we can. Maybe that is why we are the biggest proponents of Natural Cycle IVF in the Washington metropolitan area. If you do eventually require IVF, you have the option to do it here without medication and without a large medical bill at the end. |
| My guess is that it has a lot to do with money. Many people out there don't have insurance coverage for infertility. Without coverage, even minimal infertility treatment can be incredibly expensive. |
| why is Dominion advertising on this site??? |
|
Why not put the correct information out there? people post here all the time looking for answers regarding coverage/cost/treatment...
i think getting the info directly from the physician's office is great. no, i do not work for Dominion |
I AGREE!!! |
what "correct information" did your post disclose? Most people here are likely already seeking some type of medical advice, whether from a GYN or RE. Your post comes across as an advertisement intended to drum up any type of business for your office. |

If I want info from a physician's office, then I will go to that physician's office to get it. I feel like boards like this one are a place to come and vent/get advice/get perspective/share experiences/etc about infertility. People share experiences that give perspective on treatments, physicians, etc (and sometimes pushing them) in a public forum and I find the info very useful. Anyone is welcome to post, yes, but in general, the posters are people sharing their experiences with ttc on this board - outside of doctor's office.
I feel like a boundary is crossed when a physician or clinic posts information about their services on a site such as this one, though I do suspect that local doc's offices peruse these boards time-to-time, which is fine by me. There are slots on the board to advertise services, which I fully expect to keep the site running, so why not pay to advertise like every other clinic in the area? |
| PP are you saying that you take advice from this board because you think it's all patients like you? I've shared much of my IF journey only to be slammed by SG patients or employees of SG because I'm a fan of Dominion fertility. I think anyone that takes their medical advice from an anonymous site is an idiot. |
I have seen the SG patients slammed just as hard by the Dominion folks, so I will pass on shedding a tear for you. Boo hoo! And, I was merely making a point about why people do come to a board like this one and used plain, old advice and not MEDICAL advice as one of the reasons. So, I guess by your own admission, anyone who takes the advice of women on this board about where to go for fertility treatments and who listen to the Dominion fans are in fact idiots!!! LOL! |
| Assuming the OP truly is an employee of Dominon, can the OP explain why she posted? And perhaps understand that this sort of thing will backfire? Does NOT in my book look good for that organization to be ambulance chasing. |
| Portions of this post are quotes from the web site - I also thought it to be strange that someone from that organization would be posting on this forum. Maybe they can explain why they did this? |
| I do think that many of us are trying to get information from this forum and that an RE or similarly educated persons opinions would be useful. But to advertise for your clinic is a bit tacky. |

You know...I am a past patient of Dominion...and I absolutely love them, and Dr. G.
Really...this is NOT their MO. This is an anonymous site, people! Get real! Someone copied this off DF's patient blog and made it a post on here. I KNOW Dr. G has seen some of the posts on here and has been mortified about what has been said, but if he addresses it anywhere, he addresses it on his own blog or DF addresses things on their patient website. It would do them absolutely NO good to post something so obviously advertising DF on this site. This thread is just one more anonymous crap post to get people riled up around here. |
| To all the staff at RE offices--PLEASE GET OFF THIS SITE. This is supposedly a forum for individuals TTC and get support from one another, not for needless advertising and bashing of other practices. So annoying... |

9:31 here again...
I was just at DF yesterday, I am a PATIENT not staff at DF, and spoke with Dr. G about this post. Dominion Fertility did NOT post this post, period. Someone copied it from the patient site and pasted it here. It certainly doesn't take an advanced degree or board certification to do that! |
